Default May 2006 new car sales

Month 5 of 12 finishes today. I suspect another miserable month for new vehicle sales due to the inflated petrol prices. My predictions:

Falcon - 3,200
Territory - 1,300
Ute - 1,200
Fairlane - 100

FF

It seems to have been another slow month at Broady but all June and July XR's have been presold.

Yeah it was a massive fleet order that Ford had made.
Less Territories will be made in the next two months of production because of this.

Alot of the problem Ford had was issues bringing good build quality volume cars to Australia. They recently started playing the focus adds again so the car has been relaunched (with the XR5T) and now Ford have the numbers to take on the corolla.

When u say good build quality was it fair to say that the first lot of LS focuses were pretty ordinary, i know our July 05 CL has very ordinary body / paint work.

I still dont think it's anything crash hot well the latest Focus I was in was pretty ordinary.
But the body and paint were a huge issue over there and required Ford Oz guys to go over there to straighten the things up.

Best wait for Vfacts, over the past few months all guesses have been way off, probably be more accruate by using a dart board to predict the figures.

Falcon only outsold Mazda 3 by 8 units to remain in the top three, I would be interested in seeing how they go this month.

Fleet sales are great for Ford, but chances are with the upcoming end of financial year all makes will be detecting an increase in fleet sales.

The rumour afoot on the AMC website is suggesting that 380 sold around 1,500 units, I don't know if that is a reasonable estimation, sales figures have been hovering around the 1100 mark previously. Still, 380 must be eating someone's market share in the large segment - Camry?

Good to see Focus sales are up, but I thought it would need a helping hand to happen. Fuel being so expensive was always going to help get more through the door. As for the old Focus, they never deserved to sell as many as Ford intended. They were quite frankly, in most cases, rubbish!

Hopefully Falcon sold over 3k at least :/

Would be good if Focus has started actually 'competing' with Astra now (even though the Focus is a far nicer car).

Very interesting... Can't recall the Lancer sales being that good lately. I don't think it even topped 850 last month. And 380 is around 150 or so up on last month to.

Focus had a blinder!

Those numbers should stay up there as they want about 2500 a month if I remember correctly.

But your going to notice alot of small cars will be selling well with petrol prices on the increase.
