Hit at about 90k,s. The roobars up here are mandatory equipment on company cars. It was daylight too. I dont know how much it cost to repair. Sorry if it offends anyone, this is just a fact of life out here. Even my 5 year old daughter was un phased by it.

That is a daily if not hourly occorunce up there. I just moved from Katherine after a few years up there and there is always something jumping out, from roos to water buffallo even the odd local sound asleep on the Stuart Hwy.
You become desensitized to this sort of thing. The only problem is the further north you go the bigger they get. Good to see you came out on top.

Mrs was driving at less than 80k's in traffic , BUT being a FORD it was still driveable , we got home (200k's) with 1 headlight on low beam.

Reminds me of a recent news story from England where a car scooped up a local dog unbeknown to the driver and when he got to his destination many kms away, noticed the dog which was retrieved non the worse for it's adventure.

Yeah thats fair enough Lisa and I agree with you. But often its not about being faint hearted or facing up to real life. Many people do not live in the country and have never seen this sort of thing and there are also young members on here who may just unwittingly open the file.

There is also the issue of being worksafe. Many people on these forums do have the forums open at work and would just load the thread out of interest. That pic is NOT worksafe and I know someone at MY work who opened a pic that was less offensive than that and got the sack, no questions asked. It breaches all sorts of OH&S regulations in many workplaces. Perhaps all the regulations are stupid, and many are, I agree. But I still wouldnt want to get sacked for it, or at least, wind up with a few thousand dollar fine and a reprimand on my record! I would like a promotion!

Im not saying dont post it, Im just saying that the warning is appropriate. Ive worked as a nurse and seen MANY things that are MUCH worse than that. That pic does not bother me personally. I just hope the animal was dead very quickly. But the thing is some of the surgery I have seen as a nurse is performed every day, and is actual life as well... but I would not necessarily post pictures of it without a warning. There is a legal principle called the "eggshell skull principle" - that is, take people as you find them.

That means that everyone has different tolerances to things, and that you must take that into account in your actions. It means that if someone could possibly find that picture distressing and it causes emotional damage (like it or not, it could and that sort of thing does), the forums could get sued, and that is 100% serious. I dont necessarily agree with it, but again, that is life, just like the dead roo is life.

Sex is also "just life" but you wouldnt post pics of it on here without a warning would you?

Now I am NOT having a go at anyone here, and I dont necessarily agree with the extreme principles of the issues I have explained. But they exist. It is not quite as simple as being faint hearted, Im afraid.

So thank you for the warning in the thread.

I have it probably every second time I go up to Hahndorf. It is a very rich meat but there's zilch fat on it. Cooked medium rare, mmmmm yummmy.

All this talk of roo-meat is making me hungry.(free range hoppy steaks : ) A mates mum used to cook the best roasted roo tail, , the thicker parts of the tail are best cut into foot long lengths, herbed up with rosemary, oregano and garlic, bit of onion, wrap it all up in foil and chuck it in an oven on about 150c for 2-3 hours. Believe me when i say the meat falls off the bone.mmmmm even better with a bottle of stout in toe.
