Who would you take & why. (what team to you go for) Also do you think the players you choose are the Crows three of four best players or is it because your team needs strength in the midfield or defence etc so its the best fit for your team. I cant wait till Nathan Bock is back in deck it will already make the best defence in the league so much better.

I think you would have to say the most desirable Crows players are:
McLeod Ricciuto Goodwin Rutten Possibly also: Edwards Burton Biglands Johncock It very much depends on the weaknesses of the team doing the pinching. I dont think thread is going to win any popularity contests on here... LOL

About the only one I wouldnt put in that list is Biglands not that he is not a good player but he isnt in the same league as the others. I would add Marty Mattner to the list in Biglands place. His bursting run's out of defence have been fantastic a great mark. He's in & under when needed as well. He is going to develop into a premier player IMO. All others mentioned are very desirable with Tyson Edwards if you club needs a player that never plays a bad or quite game then he's your man. When the birdman plays at his best he's awesome & very hard for anyclub to match up cause of his jumpimg & running ability.

Do you mean recruit 3 or 4 more players to the crows, or recruit 3 or 4 from the crows for another team. If it's the later, the I want more that 3 or 4. I was hoping to swap the entire Essendon team for the crows. This losing streak is becoming frustrating. At this point, I'll take any of the players.

I'm a Port fan so at the moment we would take anyone who may help us win a game, but if we could i would take Burton first pick as i heard on the radio today that he is as fit as Stuart O'grady.
Rhett Biglands to back up Lade as he hasn't really had much help this year. Nathan Basset to reinforce the half back line to replace the retired Wanganeen and trent Potential for his forward work. Mcleod, whilst great, hasn't long to go and would only be a temporary fix, ala Wayne Carey's short time at Adelaide. Ricciuto is also ageing and not worth picking up in a rebuilding team, nor is Edwards. |

If people have not worked it out yet, the players are basicly the same ( as the year before ) so taking players won't fix another teams problem's.
The difference is Niel Craig, he has the players / club working together as one ( Synergy ) and these people all working together and believing in thier destiny forms a mind set ( the mental side of the game ) where all believe they can and will win. So if you could take someone it would be the coach who is the rock behind the crows, the players if taken from the crows and put under another mind set / coach would return to thier old form, currently they believe and the saying " as a person / team thinks so they shall be ) stands true. |

During those last two years under Ayres they went within 2 games of a flag and won alot of games so i believe until Neil Craig wins a flag with them he has achieved nothing more with them than Ayres. Infact he has already lost an un losable pre season grand final this year. The Crows "we cant lose this" attitude is exactly what beat them earlier in the year and will be what will beat them at the end of the year. Malcolm Blight has proved that to win with Adelaide you must be the quiet achiever and sneak up quietly or the hugely biased S.A. support helps imbed the "we cant lose " attitude and the players run on to the field over confident and non commited. |

I couldn't imagine too many career coaches would want to take over when his original contract ends as the core group of players will be due to retire or well past their best and any new coach would be faced with half a list and a huge expectation to perform whilst trying to rebuild. Any time Adelaide runs onto the park to face any Vic team is seen by the loyalists in this state as Us versus the Vics and we dont like to lose. Thats why Robert Shaw was employed in the early days as nothing more than a sheep to throw to the wolves when Adelaide needed to build its last premiership sides and had to lose for draft picks. Neil Craig may just be the next fall guy especially if he fails to secure a flag soon. The way the AFL draft awards priority and first round picks to under performing clubs in order to keep an even player base throughout the 16 teams, will mean that Adelaide will have to lose alot of games in the next few years or they will face a similar problem to the Roos, the Bombers and Brissy, trying to win a flag by plugging holes with recycled players. |

Neil Craig has a 70% score rate compared to any of the other coaches of the Adeladie Crows... the average for the other's was around 35% !
NC is also world renown as an Excercise Physiologist who authored 'Scientific Heart Rate Training' which broke a few barriers about old myths taken as gospel in the health/athletics field. Neil also has turned AFL training on it's head by doing 'individual' training regimes for players rather the old get out on the field and run your heart out approach. It's been 15 years in AFL since a team has had such a point's lead in the AFL ladder aswell. |

Crows have lost to West Coast by 2 points and Richmond by 3 points (I think)... Crows percentage is slightly better than the Eagles as well. As for Gary Ayres, well McLeod apparently threatened the board that if they didnt get rid of Ayres, he would go. Choice was made pretty quickly from what I recall. If the players hate a coach, you may as well get rid of him. Player respect is probably one of the most important factors of coaching in ANY sport. No one likes Gary Ayres (especially now with his lovely new mullett as assistance coach of Essendon - bottom team - poor Bombers) and he certainly didnt like Adelaide very much. Neil Craig is a very clever man with a lot of really good, relevant qualfications in the area. He is bold and tries new things, and he is very well respected and very loyal. He would have to be coach of the year again. He has used a lot of players that were on the Crows list that were largely ignored by Ayres, and he has turned some of them into champions or at least, future champions. I hope, for Neil Craig's sake, the boys win the premiership this year (and dont choke!) as he deserves it.
