More prevailent in rural areas - ie your more likely to find them on the golf course in a rural town then wandering the streets.

However saying that, Sydney in the northern suburbs does have a small population of eastern grey roos and wallabies, (and probably in the south too) but these only ever stay in the tracks of national parks in and around Sydney. It's actually pretty rare to come across them.

I live about 25 min from Sydney CBD, in a house backing onto bushland and when I'm now the back of our block I can see evidence of roo droppings occassionally.

Yes mate.. Even in our major cities we have Roo patrols that make sure that all the Roo's that have strayed onto our main autobarns are cleared away by 5AM..Fair Dinkum..

No they don't. They are not domesticated either.

You mainly see them in bush areas. Sometimes around recently developed areas you will see them near roads as their homes have been destroyed so they are looking for another one. But you wont see one in the city hopping along the foot path. You wouldn't want to either, they can be vicous things.

Typical American, I think she should have to locate Australia on a map first. I went to American with my dad to visit his family/friends. Some thought we would be barefoot and black. hahaha and they say, "I wish I had an accent..."

Yes and no, I live in the North Eastern suburbs of Adelaide and have twice encountered them on the way to work on Target Hill Rd, we have a big gully here and they roam out of it at night.

they don't roam the streets, not even in small country towns, you very rarely see them at all maybe on the side of a country road every now and then or near a river or somewhere where theres bush and shrubs but not near human civilisation.

that's like us asking if you have grizzly bears roaming you streets.

Lol one hopped into our backyard a couple of weeks ago. Very odd indeed. It was a long way from it's home.

If you live on the back of parkland/nature reserve it's not uncommon to see them. That's how it is in Canberra anyways. I've hit 2 kangaroos in my mates street. The drought is what brings them closer to urban areas looking for food.

Despite common belief they are nice and cute animals, these things will seriously kick your **** if they want to.

If you hit one with your car you know about it too! They are a pest.

EBFalcs, I am 100% serious. You won't find them in the CBD, but I have seem them in outer suburbs.

Its good meat, $6kg of mince at woolworths, its good with pasta. Kangaroos are actually the biggest killer of foreign tourists in Australia, they are quite dangerous. They like to keep this quite, as not to scare foreign tourists from coming here

The bigger male ones are able to be bought for domestic use. Some people ride them to work to avoid tolls on the freeway as they don't generate near as much Greenhouse gases. You also get a tax deduction if you ride them to work.

In some poorer suburbs, they rely on them as a food source. As long as they use spears to kill them, it is allowed. Very high in protein.

Normally the roo's go for a early morning hop on the Harbour Bridge. About once a week you will see them drinking from the Yarra. (unlucky buggers)

I saw one in Katherine NT. Hopping across the Victoria Highway in the middle of Town.
I also saw a Goanna walking down the main street in Winton QLD.

We get Kangaroos around my place all the time.
You can find them just off the street in the greater part of the day, but early mornings, afternoon and at night they are usually roaming around the place.

In most places it would be unheard of, but there has always been a group of kangaroos living in my area. They are slowly being pushed out of the bush as more houses go up.

As you are all aware the NT govt now has Wanted posters in post offices warning of rogue Roos that have attacked foriegn tourists(we all know which ones) in the main streets of Darwin..Be warned..

I hear alot of people saying no, but when me and my gf go to sanctuary point every now and then we always see one. One likes to get in the backyard and go to sleep, there always around the streets and near the water.

They also loiter in gangs of a night time enforcing their own curfews upon non kangaroo species. May god help you if they find you roaming around after curfew hours.

I am having my wedding reception at a Golf Resort ... they aren't allowed to cull them ... but we were informed that we could go hunting though ... hee hee.

I actually had to dodge one on my street the other morning (I am being serious as well) ... they recently put up warning signs for them.

Drop bears in my trees keep them away. Have to keep shooing the koala's out of my house though.
