Default Speed Camera's??

Does anyone know anything about the speed cameras on the Hume HWY, Traveling Northbound up the Hume towards Beveridge.

In particular if they are time of distance ( point to point ) camera's only or if they also catch drivers speeding through as well as point to point.

As this is all news to me since the Hwy has been extended.

I wonder why people put apostrophes when they aren't necessary.

Sorry, but I'm picky with punctuation.

I probably should ignore that.

Firstly, a comma was used to show a pause in the sentance.

The other 2 apostrophe, were used to show abreviation.

At least that's what I learned at school, I think? :

I am pretty sure they are standard speed cameras. I will contact someone shortly to confirm. Interesting thing is the two new sets of speed cameras on the Hume Highway are both in pairs. Either way they will measure speed between points or past point and if that exceeds limit people will be caught and I hear they will register speeds in excees of 200kmph. I am not sure if they are operating yet, as in switched on and raising those saftety cameras dollars for Bracksie.

Yes.

I suppose they're meant to replace police cars, as speed is the only thing that kills.

Hope my grammar is correct.

I know. I was in a way agreeing with you, from a comical standpoint.

Yes, they are road safety cameras, I went past them on Monday. My initial thought was that they must have had a drop in revenue in Vic, as these things are sprouting up everywhere.

Another tricky little manouvre is the proliferation of roadworks around the fixed speed cameras on the hume highway near Gundagai, and the other one south of Yass. They put the speed limit for the roadworks down to 40, and then have a sign saying your speed will be checked. So if you're doing over 40 the camera which is normally assigned to work at 100 now works at 40. Furthermore, there is never anyone working at those roadworks.

Reminds me of the sign in Albury when you enter NSW where it says "NSW - Feel Free". Should be; NSW - Feel Free, 'cause we'll tax you to death"

My 5 cents - unless paying with eftpos or credit card then it can be 2 cents.

the word is they are point to point cameras. i have a theory that the point to point are the two strips that are 2 mtrs or so apart.. so the two points aren't one camera location to the next. I will put the word out to other drivers and see what the general opinion is.

north bound and south bound safety cameras are time over distance 1 set of cameras to the next set of cameras is the distance
travel faster than the allocated time and you are speeding & fined
they are also speed cameras if you are speeding thru 1 set you will get fined

it all comes down to voluntary compliance
comply to the road laws and you dont have to volunteer your hard earned money

dont ask how they work because i have no idea

no grammer used for fear of negative remarks lol

Time over distance cameras? Miserable bastards. The victorian piggy banks suck. If you guys vote bracks in again then you deserve to have speed cameras mounted to your cars.

That sounds a lot like "if you ain't a terrorist, you've got nothing to fear". Be serious, with 3km/h tolerance, everyone is a speeding motorist.

Hey trust me kid, I am a dad :-) The link I gave was from the Vic Justice dept. I also remember my Road Angel email warning that these had been activated. They are timed between distance.

I know, and ive been done twice very near too or on the limit. This has changed my approach to driving. the Speed limit is that, a limit. If you drive 5km/h under it, your gain in 3km/h still leaves you 2km/h under it.

I value my money and licence more than the possible hint of speeding.
