Default now officially one of you lot..

probably of no interest to the majority here, but..
As of about an hour ago I became an Australian Citizen :
Moved here from NZ seven years ago (as of yesterday), and finally got round to doing the deed.. got sick of having to pay full whack each time I went to the doc, and this was the easiest way to get a medicare card :
nah.. I never plan on moving back to NZ permanently (the government has done a good job of screwing the place up), so it was the logical thing to do I suppose
Plus now I get to vote, and 'defend our country' ;)

my workmates asked if I was going to start drinking VB, wear short shorts and follow AFL... ain't gonna happen :hihi:

so thats my lil story, like i said, probably of no interest but thought I'd share anyhoo

Welcome to the winning team. Nobody likes VB, of all the crap from the 80s that's coming back, stubbies shorts are NOT, and AFL - well its just thugs beating the crap out of each other, fighting over a damn leather pouch. There are for more important cultural traits in Australialand than that lot.

Glad to hear you're one of us now!

So when do you expect the translator can resign?

Good Onya!
Forget the VB and AFL. Go Rugby and Tooheys or a good Scotch.
They didn't tell you about the initiation ceremony did they? We have to keep those details secret until we spring it on you.

Congrats Phil

Guess its only appropriate to be a citizen when you're buying half the country's remaining supply of old school falcons anyway

Now we can finally share the awful secret about Australia....

I don't bother paying for VB...I make my own. Get a home brew kit, follow the instructions and throw in some dirty undies and old socks...:P

But honestly, it's an acquired taste. Vegemite is THE ingestible Australian thingy.
