Default Plasma Tv's

Im not sure if this is the right forum, but it will do.

I have a 50" Pioneer Plasma TV. In the last week i have noticed a discolouration and greying in the shadows. It is most visible when a person is displayed on screen and they move their face through different lighting and shadow effects.

Has anyone else here had the same problem, or is it potentially my signal?

are you using HDMI? because they improve picture quality but its the reverse if the DVD or settop box is crap itll come out 10x worse.

you also might want to reset the contrast and brightness settings.
if you have a set top box remove that plug antenna to tv turn on see if its different, then plug set top box accordingly.
or try a few things on another tv ie s.t. box on another tv, another tv with that antenna.

goodluck

Thanks for responses.

The TV is only 7 months old and came with 5 yr warranty
Its been greying on all signals, DVD's and Foxtel. I rang Pioneer today and they said to reset the media box, like that will do anything.

We've got a 2 year old Panasonic Plasma, and occasionally it displays some strange effects, similar to what you've described. However this only happens on free to air TV through a SD digital tuner, and we're in a poor area for reception. It still plays DVDs beautifully so I figure it ain't the TV but that the larger screen highlights the problem signal more so than a small TV.

That would be 102 inch, you must be doing well considering an 80 inch costs around 45 grand.

yeah thats your STB, nothing wrong with your tv. Sometimes when a digital stb doesnt get a good enough signal this will happen.

Havent heard of the laser TV, but it's things like this that make it worth waiting new things to enter the market and make the whole range of big screen tv's cheaper

They are seriously a lot of money, for now while there are good ones out there I cant justify spending $3000+ just for a screen that still isnt the best quality

I heard of a new technology with a similar price quality around a year ago, i gave up waiting, bought a 40" LCD today, only a cheapie but compares well with my high res Plasma.

with Plasma TV's, there is no way you can beat PIONEER. They are the best out, and clearest. If i could afford one i would definetly go pioneer, nothing else is so clear. Also i think they do free delivery and setups!

1080p LCD = Awesome, $7000 = Me Broke. Having the ability to get the most out of blu-ray when it hits = Priceless
