Question 300C, what do u think ?

They're everywhere now. what do you guys think of them ? are they more for cruising or performance ?

Been thinking of making a switch from my integra into one of these. Not sure what package i should go with.

Any insight on these cars ? from an Australian's perspective, not from an American who think i should be rolling on 24" and pack the back with useless doof doof music.

plushy whale like ride.

the v8 under the bonnet has boot... but it just dont have the ability to harness it.
all the toys stop you from having fun.

basically a ghia thats big. long. and a ***** to park

The srt8 is a weapon on wheels and more than a match for hsv and fpv but the styling is already dating faster than a chinese bride. Also it has american quality bout it.

I like it. I don't care if the styling is dating, I like old cars anyway, and I think it looks great. It's got a V8 which is good for me, because I like V8s as well. The interior was nice, I wiuldn't say it was any worse than a Fairmont Ghia, about the same, but I've never really been in anything flash like a BMW, Mercedes, whatever, to compare it to. It's certainly got lots of space and plenty of rear legroom, and looks quite stylish inside, apart from the odd tacky piece of plastic. It's very comfortable, probably because it's so big. A ***** to park? I've driven vehicles that are much harder to park. I'm sure it rides and drives comfortably for normal, everyday use, and I'm sure it could be much worse.

Mistubishi 380 with rear wheel drive and a fancy grille. Executive transport for cashed up bogans. That's what I think of it. Looks like they would last about 2 years. Everyone who wants one will buy one new and there will be no second hand market, for the ones that hold together and they will have the resale of a Magna. Very tacky car. Future refugee transport, LOL. :MrT_anim:

Looks mad, and commands respect on the road. Looks better than any australian car built to date. If i had the money i would buy an SRT8 in a heart beat. Beautiful car. Interior quality not great, but if u can live with that, then its a fantastic car!

Two words...

PIMP MOBILE!

Saw two (or perhaps it was the same one twice, not sure) yesterday that were done up with large chrome mags, body kit, etc. I just thought is was a big pimp mobile.

They use them as the safety cars in the Clipsal 500. One of the best sounding V8's I've heard with the exhausts they have put on them.

yeh they feel and drive like a big car - very upright bonnet-line from inside, go alright but really only a cruiser, decent features inside, factory stereo is actually pretty good even the usually cheap american switches are decent. along with australia's best ELXR8, my mate has one for a daily driver but they definately benefit from some suspension / wheel work. Interesting point is they are the only car on the australian market that u can legally register/insure with 22s and no engneers docs. His rolls on 24s.

I like them and when I was looking for a new car they were on the list. I ended up with a Territory Ghia. But it was close enough that I ordered my PPQ number plates for the 300C. Which I later sold on ebay for a tidy sum.

I think they are looking old fast. Saw a Black WM Caprice the other day and I must say damn it looked good in the flesh.

And this is whats funny about styling and opinions, IMO the new statesman is looks clumsy, awkward front, stupid wheel arches, boring as bat poo rear end. But then others like it, what can ya do...:monkes:

Yeap another positive vote here, would get one over a statesman or fairlane anyday. But the BF2 Ghia is horn aswell, the front end is drop dead sexy. Just needs more oopmh!

Yeh it is, there are about 6 that I know of, 5 sedans - 3 black, 1 grey, 1 silver and a wagon, he put the wheels on all of them (sells them) all except his are on 22s. A couple of the guys are actually using them in their wedding car business - they look pretty cool all together but the bridal party do end up living with the pimps and hos name tag lol

They are made in Canada, with engines from mexico. I wouldn't consider one, but the 300C SRT8s have decent performance. I don't like the high beltline when driving one, and for performance, it looses out to the AWD Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, both in handling and speed/acceleration.



If a 300C SRT8 driver holds down the traction control button for 5 or 10 seconds, the display will notify you that the traction control is turned off.

i read a story about the designer's concept for the car, he noted that he took the profile styling cues for the 300c and based it on the M1A1 Abrams tank - solid bulky body with a low setback turret. He also said it was always designed with the aftermarket / personalised market in mind ie. the big wheel set, so 22s on these things require no other mods, not even guard rolling.

Thanks on the input. Glad guys here are overlooking the usual bling bling sh!t that gets associated with the car.

Might take one for a test drive and see how it goes. SRT-8 are all sold out; only 2nd ones are available.

Let's just correct a couple of misunderstandings.

The RHD 300C's are built in Austria (not Canada) - the stock 300C is a bit underpowered but the SRT8 certainly doesn't have that problem.

Resale for the SRT's looks to be holding up ok - anybody tried to offload a 3 year old LTD lately? Or even a GT-P? Try 30-35% for the former and maybe 40% for the latter.

Ride is excellent - it's the first thing I noted coming from the GT-P and that's on the 20" standard rims. The interior looks ok and it's certainly better built than the Mustang but the plastics quality isn't where you'd expect it to be and they mark easily. It's not a great handler but a set of coil overs is a good fix and as long as you use a slow in and fast out technique they are quick enough point to point except on really tight stuff. Horsepower is always a help.

Traction can be completely disabled on the SRT but it's nowhere near as interventionist as the GT-P in operation - it can't be disabled completely on the stock 300C though.

Overall it's a fun car. It attracts more attention than a stripper in Bourke Street and has enough kit to justify the price.

They look heavy and mafiaesque. be that a good thing or not is up to you to decide.

I think they can look good or bad depending on what you do with it, whatever you do dont try and make it look like a sports car because youll fail

I think they look unreal! Points to Chrysler for making something different with the essentials covered, eg: Thumping big V8 under the bonnet and room for huge wheels!

I have driven one twice, , it was slow, heavy and handled like rubbish ( this was the standard model, , so I cant say what the SRT is like ? )

A bit of a waste of $60 000

but it looks cool.

Better of with a second hand XR8, 12 Foot Tinnie, Dirt Bike, and another car for the missus.....

you are so mis-informed man,

the 300C is actually really easy to park, so many times i've pulled into a carpark spot and thought damn, i'm gonna have to straighten this up but it's turning circle is REALLY suprising...it's really easy to park! alot easier than our 2002 magna!!!

also, you can turn traction control off, but don't tell my parents that hehehe

also, it kept up with my mates VY 285kW clubsport (both autos) it was neck and neck all the way close to 200 clicks.

to me the 300C is awesome, definately fast and pulls way more stares than clubsports/xr8's etc. in standard trim anyway

russellw have you had any trouble with yours?

i know that alot of the chrysler jeep dodge products tend to have a fair bit of warranty problems

the 6.1 is an awesome machine, i drove one today (only around the block) but they sound fantasic and it just kept on going and with ease
