pressure washer question

Hi all,
Just got a small Karcher pressure washer for Christmas, and it is one of those ones where it can operate via a bucket (level 4 water restrictions is Bris).

Now I tried it with a normal sized bucket, but it did not work / draw any water. Has anyone got ths working? Does the bucket have to be a certain size, length of hose?

Any help is appreciated...

From what i been told bucket needs to be raised so it will gravity feed . I haven,t tried but going to get a big bucket from bunnings

They have one setup in the local Bunnings store , small tank sitting next to machine , not gravity fed. I connect mine to 20 litre drum , works well for cleaning car and truck.

I found that a short length of hose from the "bucket" to the machine will work much better than a long piece.

My Karcher is only 600mm from the bucket and it works well however, when I had a 2 metre length of hose on it, it wouldn't suck properly.

This might be a silly question, but you're not using the plastic hose that draws from the detergent bottle by mistake, are you? You still have to use a hose connected to the main inlet connection, that your garden hose from the tap, uses. Probably a dumb question, but it's better to check everything.

Try a short length of hose from your bucket first and see how you go and no, it's not gravity fed.

it is a short length of hose, and yes it is the right connection.. (tied the normal town water and it worked a treat ) will try the gravity thing also.....

any other ideas?

Take the long nozzle off the actual sprayer part. It only works on low pressure so you cant have the high pressure nozzle part on.

I got mine to work, its just a matter of having the hose int he right place and getting it to suck up, would like a better alternative so im looking.

Hi,I,ve been using mine to wash the car for a couple of weeks now and have had no problem.I use my garden hose (10mtrs,I think) drawing out of a 44 that sits at ground level as does the machine.stick one end of the hose in the top of the drum,syphon water till it runs freely out of the hose,then snap it on to the machine,with all the water in the hose this gives the machine a chance to syphon more water out ,and the pressure spray works fine.
ps.my machine is only a small karcher,hope this helps.
