With the Aussies comfortably (understatement) through to the 3 match finals, NZ and England play off tomorrow which will decide who goes through to meet the Aussies. Any punters keen to have a friendly guess? NZ batting first: New Zealand will make 276 in their 50 overs. England batting will come short at 255 all out. England batting first: England will make 269 in 48 overs. New Zealand will make the score with 3 overs and 3 wickets to spare. The 3 match finals will be won by Aussie no matter who goes through. It hurts to say it but they are just too good, like the All Blacks, they're in a league of their own. Which ever team goes through will be lucky to win, one. : Cheers, Carl

Hope the Kiwis send the Poms packing. We've flogged them so much it's just not interesting anymore.
Funny they won the Ashes, then we white wash (more liked dumped a 100ft wave on) them. Paybacks a ***** aint it! |

LOL! : Thanks, I think we'll do it.
Yeah, you guys must be getting sick of them now. What's the kill count VS Australia anyhow? Must be 11 games to 1 against the Poms. :

Such a coincidence that this last little run of games, including one that Australia should never have lost, but did, ended up in keeping the matches 'live' right until the last game...

I reckon the kiwis will win. They have a strong batting line up all the way to the tail and their bowling attack is competant with bond and vettori.

England aren't that bad they have a lot of injuries and their fill-ins have shown that they can play eg plunkett, bopara...hopefully the kiwis will win and i rekon the kiwis will give Australia a good run for their money in the finals...i hope they win the series it's not impossible...Sri Lanka nearly did it last year...Australia's bowling attack isn't that great

nah...pyjama cricket.
You just can't beat a test. Or AFL. Or PC gaming. Or sleeping. But seeing as such, I would prefer to see NZ make the finals and wouldn't care if they won them. We've got that much silverware, who even cares anymore? |

I think if we can get a score of 250+ it will be very defendable against England. We're a good fielding side though for some reason this time over the ditch we've been shocking under the high ball with the exception of a few very good catches.
I think if we do make it through we will give Aussie a real good run for their money. Something about the finals and a fresh start will give both teams heated engines.

A lot of people care. People appreciate a contest and NZ are definitely competetive. I bought 6 tix for the SCG final: 4 to sell on ebay 2 to keep....the 4 i sold i bought for 120 and sold for $256...the fact people are willing to pay more than face value shows Cricket is alive and well regardless of all that silverware accumulated by Australia over the years

Yeah, batting first is definitely the way to go......
Here is the world standings as of 1/02/2007 1 - Australia 2 - South Africa 3 - Pakistan 4 - Sri Lanka 5 - New Zealand 6 - India 7 - West Indies 8 - England 9 - Bangladesh 10 - Zimbabwe 11 - Kenya I think if NZ can get to the semis at the world cup moving up to 2nd or 3rd would be a good result for us. Not bad for a country of 4 million (200,00 less than Sydney). Speaking of the world cup, did anyone else see South Africa's score last night? (Feb 5th) 392!!! for 6 after 50, in reply Pakistan were all out for 228 in the 46th over. Seems as though they are ready to roll come the world cup.......

Tri-nations, Bledisloe, Netball World Champions, Cricket would be nice but I can't see that happening.......though, we've come to the party before and we'll give the Americas cup a good nudge, perhaps even a Kiwi bathurst winner of not a Ford. :

I remember a game about 2-3 years ago? New Zealand made 392 or closer to 400 in 46 overs. Rain delay - bugger!!!!! 24 balls would have seen us pass the 400 with ease. Oh well, that's Cricket I guess.
What about Flemming? Any opinions? He use to be real good, he just looks like crap out there now, it's at the embarrassment stage for him to be wearing the Silver fern. He can captain very well and has a sharp pair of hands, right up there with the best but he's there to bat and he aint doing that...... :alien2:

I reckon New Zealand will flog the Poms. They just appear more professional and they do have more big hitting batsmen who are in better form at the moment. Oram is good when he gets going. New Zealand have also improved a lot this summer. I feel bad for Freddie and the Poms, it must be so disheartening... lets just hope they dont bat first anymore... waste of a game.
I thought South Africa would be the team to beat at the moment. Those guys are machines. I would love to see SA play Aus... now THAT would be some good cricket!!!

The irony is we (and I mean everyone) know how bad England have been this summer, yet the no hopers can still make the finals.. Should England get a birth in the finals, how bad does that make NZ?

Its a humid and overcast day in brisbane today, could be some swing, and if those pommy quicks hit their mark, they will probably win today. Im just about to get ready and go.... Should be a very interesting match...

I think the kiwis will get up against the poms, the poms have to many mental issues right now. There is no way a team can go through a summer like this and have any confidence.
That being said I think the series between the aussies and the kiwis in the finals should be good. The kiwis have shown they can set good targets. |

True, true but how much practise have England had against world class competition? We had a dismal run with Sri-lanka and that was it. England have played Aussie so many times it's boring. : We're the newbies in Aussie so we're doing OK.....England have had time to get use to the conditions, opponents, weather, pitches and everything else that comes with playing away from home.

LMAO! Yeah, oh well. England played well, we didn't. I think 9 out of 10 times we would have won that in a similar position. Good on England I say, they've had a tough time in Aussie so it's nice to see them get some wins under the belt, though, of course I wish we progressed. Luckily us Kiwis are gracious in defeat.......can't say that about many.

Dumb series, there is no way England deserves to be in the finals. That Maori guy (cant remember his name) needs to learn how to CATCH!

And i was sitting right behind him when he dropped it.... WE GAVE HIM HELL.... even though i was not supporting either team particularly But on their day the Kiwis will trouble the aussies more than the poms!
Plunkett is the new harmison.... but at least he keeps it on the pitch....! |
